<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a program capable of reporting the content of a failure that occurs at the printer in a detailed fashion even to users who are not using the printer. <P>SOLUTION: The printer 30 has a plurality of client devices 20a to 20n connected thereto via a network 50. The printer comprises a printing part 31 for performing printing upon receiving print data sent from the client devices; a client information storage part 32 for acquiring and storing client information from the client devices; a failure occurrence detection part 33 for detecting the occurrence of a failure; a print result storage part 34 for storing the print results of each of the plurality of client devices; and managing/reporting parts 36, 37 for managing independently the content of the failure to be reported to the client devices that are using the printer at the time of occurrence of the failure and the content of the failure to be reported to the client devices that are not, based on the content of the failure at occurrence of the failure and on the print result data, and for reporting to the client devices that the failure has occurred, based on the client information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
