PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load sensor that has low manufacturing cost and high detection accuracy of an input load and a load detection method of the load sensor, and to provide a pedestrian protection system that has low manufacturing cost and high detection accuracy of the input load, namely high determination accuracy of a collision object.

SOLUTION: The load sensor 2 has a curve-like correlation between the input load from the collision object and output data corresponding to the input load, and has an approximation section 206 for approximating the correlation between the input load and the output data to a plurality of straight lines.
