<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new lytic enzyme having a high lytic activity and a wide lytic spectrum. <P>SOLUTION: A protein is composed of a gene composed of a DNA comprising 933 nucleotide sequences obtained from Lactobacillus gasseri JCM1131<SP>T</SP>which is one species of lactic acid bacillus holding a temperate phage phigaY and an an amino acid sequence encoded with the same. A recombinant plasmid contains the DNA and a host cell is transformed with the recombinant plasmid. A method for producing the protein comprises culturing the host cell and recovering the protein. A composition comprising the protein as an active ingredient, especially a reagent for research, a food additive, a preservative, an industrial fungicide or bactericide, agricultural fungicide or bactericide or a medical antibiotic is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
