<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorophor enabling emitting white-color light through combination with a blue-color light-emitting diode or purple-color light-emitting diode. <P>SOLUTION: The oxynitride-based fluorophor is composed of a substance of the general formula: M<SB>2</SB>Si<SB>3</SB>N<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>( wherein M is one or more metal atom selected from Be, Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba) wherein part of M is substituted with Eu. This fluorophor is produced by mixing together respective oxides of Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and Eu or respective compounds of Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and Eu that form the corresponding oxides by heating, silicon nitride or a compound that forms silicon nitride by heating, and silicon oxide or a compound that forms silicon oxide by heating, and then firing the mixture at 1,200-1,900°C in a vacuum or non-oxidative atmosphere. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
