<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of an electronic seal system being poor at portability due to the fact that, to seal an electronic document by means of the electronic seal system and to seal the electronic document displayed on a screen, a display with the function of displaying the electronic document to be sealed on the screen is required and needs to be carried around at all times so that the system is usable anytime. <P>SOLUTION: In an electronic seal device and an electronic seal system, a seal area where sealing is permitted is stored. When sealing is tried, a sealed surface where the sealing was tried is read and a determination is made as to whether or not the sealed surface read is the seal area stored; if it is the seal area stored, sealing is permitted.
