PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal enhancement system which enhances signal components and improves an SNR. SOLUTION: A signal enhancement system (100) improves the understandability of speech or other audio signals. The system reinforces selected parts of the signal, can attenuate selected parts of the signal, and can increase the SNR. The system includes a delay logic (204), an adaptive filter (206), and a signal reinforcement logic (218). The adaptive filter can track and enhance the fundamental frequency and harmonics in the input signal (202). The filter output signals can approximately reproduce the input signal, delayed by an integer multiple of the period of the fundamental frequency of the input signal.
