PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rotary electric machine in which a coil becoming the first winding of a second layer at the coil winding portion of a coil bobbin strengthens hooking being imparted by a valley formed by adjacent coils of a first layer thus enhancing lineup properties of the second layer coil. SOLUTION: Between the proximal end 13A and the distal end 13B of each side face 15A, 15B at the coil winding portion 13 of a coil bobbin 12 in the rotary electric machine, a groove 21 engaging with a coil 16 being wound along the side face 15A, 15B is provided. When the coil 16 becoming the first winding of a second layer is wound along a valley 22B formed by adjacent coils 16 of a first layer, groove pitch Pb of the grooves 21 engaging, respectively, with adjacent coils 16 of a first layer is set larger than other groove pitch Pa.
