PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus for preventing production of a stripe image by preventing dust or the like from being attracted onto a side of ADF platen glass of an automatic document feeder opposite to its original carrying side. SOLUTION: A conductive member 6a formed to the side opposite to the original carrying side of the ADF platen glass 6 provided on the way of a path on which an original D is carried and which a scanning optical system for reading the original D faces is conducted to a metallic frame 60 being an earth member and connected to ground so as to degrade the charging performance of the whole ADF platen glass 6. Thus, it is possible to thereby prevent attraction of the original and the dust or the like passing on the ADF platen glass 6. Further, since the side opposite to the side of the ADF platen glass 6 on which the original D is carried is not in contact with the original D, the conductive member 6a is not worn even with lapse of time and stable quality can be maintained.
