PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a user of a reception state of a recorded broadcast program. SOLUTION: The broadcast video recording and reproducing apparatus switches the directivity antenna connected to the apparatus and whose directivity can be switched to a prescribed direction (S104, 105), extracts a broadcast signal corresponding to a prescribed channel among broadcast signals respectively corresponding to a plurality of channels received from the smart antenna (S103), detects a reception state of the broadcast signal by the smart antenna (S106, 107), processes the extracted broadcast signal, records reception broadcast information denoted by the processed signal to a first recording medium (S108), records reception state information denoting the detected reception state to a second recording medium while associated with the recorded reception broadcast information (S109), reads the recorded reception broadcast information from the first recording medium, reads the reception state information corresponding to the read reception broadcast information from the second recording medium among the recoded reception state information items, and outputs the read reception broadcast information and the read reception state information.
