PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of preventing presence of a foreign material such as dust electrostatically adhering onto a read optical path of a white reference member by an exposure optical system. SOLUTION: In an image reading apparatus 1 provided with the exposure optical system for exposing an original image and allowing a photoelectric conversion element to receive a reflected light from the original image, the white reference member 16 provided at a position at which the exposure optical system makes exposure is provided on an optically transparent member 5 to be exposed, a conductive member for providing conductivity and earth members 18, 18a in contact with the conductive member to executing grounding are provided on the surface of the member 16 to be exposed so that the conductivity performance of the member 5 to be exposed can be degraded by making the conductive member to the earth members 18, 18a for carrying out grounding.
