PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously solve both problems of retention of suction efficiency of a pump and prevention of deformation of a side plate. SOLUTION: In this vane pump, the side plate is put along one side surface of a cam ring to introduce high pressure for pressure loading to a back surface of the side plate, a suction flow passage is provided on the cover, operating oil introduced to the suction flow passage is branched to one flow passage sucking from one side surface of the cam ring and another flow passage sucking from another side surface of the cam ring through an outside of the cam ring, and a suction recess part for sucking operating oil is formed on a surface opposing another side surface of the cam ring in the side plate.
