PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a cast iron casting having an excellent tensile strength and further having an elongation. SOLUTION: The molten metal of cast iron is made to flow to a gradient cooling plate 2 and is cooled to a semi-solidified state, the molten metal in a semi-solidified state is cast into a die 3, is pressurized and solidified directly after the casting, and the casting obtained thereafter is subjected to heat treatment. Particularly, in the case the die is preheated to 200 to 400°C, a casting composed of hypoeutectic cast iron having a carbon concentration of 2.87 wt.% and an Si concentration of 1.95 wt.% [carbon equivalent of 3.55], and having tensile strength of 800 MPa and an elongation of 4% is obtained.
