[Also in Divisions B5 and F4] The connection between pipes and heating elements 23, 25 forming a radiator (see Division F4) comprises an internal threaded portion 24 of said pipes or heating elements and an adapter 19 for engagement with said threaded portion and having toroidal or triangular seals 26 at opposite ends thereof. An axially movable sleeve 27 around said adapter and having seals 28 on its end faces overcomes any manufacturing tolerances. The flow of fluid through the radiator which is formed of plastics material is controlled by a magnetic slider 40 actuated within a housing 39 by a solenoid 41, 43 embedded in a watertight casting resin at opposite ends of the housing. Alternatively the slider may be actuated by one solenoid similarly embedded and returned by gravity (Fig. 15, not shown) or by spring (44) (Fig. 14, not shown). In a further embodiment the slider may be spaced from the actuating means by a rod (50) (Fig. 20, not shown). The electrical wires (51) necessary for the actuation of the solenoids may be embedded in the heating medium supply tubes (Fig. 14, not shown). |
