<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water purification device and a water purification method which can efficiently purify water while effectively removing algae, such as microcystis. <P>SOLUTION: The water purification device 1 has filter material 5, a float 3 for supporting the filter material 5, and a plurality of water intake ports 8, 9, and controls the selection of a plurality of different water intake positions to supply water to the filter material 5.
