PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device capable of easily loading a disk by the method having high degree of freedom. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a front cover 3 equipped with a traverse base 5 having an optical pickup 2 and a turntable 1 mounted thereon, and arranged to move between a recording/reproducing position and a standby position, a disk mounting surface 3a for mounting a disk 4, and an opening 3b formed in the disk mounting surface 3a to insert the turntable 1 when the traverse base 5 moves between the recording/reproducing position and the standby position, and a centering member 8 for holding and transferring the disk 4 to a position in which the center of the disk 4 matches the center of the turntable 1.
