PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual inspection apparatus of the outer surface of piping at a narrow section for capturing a clear image in a wide range at the narrow section in which piping is dense and for improving inspection efficiency by the visual inspection of the outer surface of the piping. SOLUTION: The visual inspection apparatus comprises a rod 6 that can be inserted between the piping 5 and allows the length to be adjusted, a camera holding means 9 that is mounted at the tip of the rod 6 so that it can swing freely and arranges a luminaire 7 for lighting the outer surface of the piping 5 and a camera 8, such as a CCD camera, for photographing the outer surface of the piping 5, an angle adjusting means 10 for adjusting the swing angle of the camera holding means 9, and a display means 11, such as a monitor, for showing the image photographed by the camera 8.
