Method and apparatus for distributing digital stream data over a local distribution facility (209) to at least one user terminal (211) is described. In one example, a transceiver (202) is configured to receive a signal from a transport system and recover a packet stream from the signal. Packet processing circuitry (304, 504) is configured to extract digital stream data from the packet stream. A modulator (204) is configured to modulate the digital stream data onto at least one carrier for transmission over the local distribution facility to at least one user terminal.
