<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxidation inhibitor which has water-solubility and which effectively prevents a change in the color of an image from being caused by an acid gas in the atmosphere and light, and a medium to be recorded, which is made excellent in the long-term preservability of the image by applying the oxidation inhibitor to the medium to be recorded. <P>SOLUTION: The oxidation inhibitor contains a polymer which is acquired by making a compound, expressed by general formula (1), HOOC-(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>l</SB>-(S)<SB>m</SB>-(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-COOH, react with a nonionic polyol with two or more hydroxyl groups.
