HOLOGRAM MEMORY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ERASING HOLOGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively erase a multiple hologram with high accuracy by a small/simple and inexpensive optical system and to realize a small/simple and inexpensive hologram memory device.

SOLUTION: The device is equipped with a double Mach-Zehnder interference optical system 25 using light made incident onto both surfaces of a beam splitter 14 as an optical system to irradiate a hologram memory 11 with object light 19 and reference light 20. A multiple hologram is selectively erased by irradiating the hologram with object light 19 and reference light used for recording the hologram by using light made incident onto other surface of the beam splitter 14 in the optical system 25, the surface different from the surface used for irradiation of the hologram with the object light 19 and the reference light 20 on recording.
