<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a translucent liquid crystal display device in which contrast is improved. <P>SOLUTION: The translucent liquid crystal display device comprises a pair of substrates 1 wherein the respective substrates are joined together via a predetermined spacing, and a liquid crystal held in the spacing. Row-forming scanning lines 4, column-forming signal lines 5, a flattening film 6 to cover these lines, and matrix-forming pixels 7 driven by the scanning lines 4 and the signal lines 5 are formed on the one substrate 1. The respective pixels 7 are partitioned by the lower and upper scanning lines 4 and the left and right signal lines 5. Each pixel 7 is vertically divided into a reflection region 8 with a reflection electrode formed thereon and transmission region 9 with a transmission electrode formed thereon. A light shielding film 10 with a width wider than that of the signal line 5 is interposed between the signal line 5 and the surface of the substrate 1, and prevents light leakage from a side portion of the signal line 5 in the transmission region 9. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
