<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat plate fluorescent lamp and a liquid crystal display device having this. <P>SOLUTION: The flat plate fluorescent lamp comprises a first substrate, a second substrate which is joined to the first substrate and forms a discharge space, and a hollow electrode fitted to the inner surface of the first substrate corresponding to each of the discharge space. Here, the second substrate has a recessed part recessed so as to adjoin the hollow electrode. The flat plate fluorescent lamp further comprises an outer electrode formed at the outer face of the first substrate corresponding to the hollow electrode. Thereby, by preventing sputtering of the hollow electrode, and increasing lifetime of the flat plate fluorescent lamp, and reducing a blackening phenomenon of the electrode parts, light emitting characteristics can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
