<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which light on a light shielding film region is utilized to improve a utilization factor of light from a backlight and to improve the display luminance. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with: a display side polarizing plate 106; a liquid crystal cell 105 with a liquid crystal layer 104 interposed between the one and the other transparent substrates 102, 103 wherein the one substrate has a transparent electrode arranged on its inside surface; a polarizing plate 107; a reflection polarizing plate 120; and a backlight 121, in this order when seen from the display side. The one transparent substrate 102 has: pixel regions; the light shielding film 111 formed so as to partition the respective pixel regions; color filters CF formed on opening portions 113 of the light shielding film 111; and a reflection film 114 which is a light reflecting means to reflect light incident on the light shielding film 111 region to the reflection polarizing plate 120 side, on the liquid crystal layer 104 side surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
