GALECTIN 9 INDUCING FACTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clarify the nature of galectin 9 which is a physiologically active substance having the activity of lectin, supposed to participate in various physiological phenomena such as the expression in various cells and the correlation between the expression quantity and the metastatic property of tumor, and the activity of a substance controlling the production/isolation of the galectin-9 is expected to induce the antitumor action and antiinflammatory action. SOLUTION: It has been found that a galectin 9-inducing factor to induce the production/isolation of galectin 9 is present in a certain kind of tumor cell membrane solubilizing fraction. The factor is obtained as a concentrated fraction containing the activity component by using a concanavalin A adsorption fraction, Resource QTMion exchange column, hydroxyapatite column, and the like. Accordingly, an examination reagent, medicine and assay can be developed by using the galectin 9 inducing activity of the factor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
