1299063 Turbomachine rotor blade fixing GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 16 Jan 1970 [23 Jan 1969] 2186/70 Heading F1T A ducted fan blade 14 has a root 22 mounted in an axial slot in the periphery of the rotor 12 and a resilient non-metallic spacer member 46 disposed in the gap between the base 34 of the root and the base 36 of the slot so as to urge the root radially outwards into tight engagement with the walls of the slot. The spacer 46 is made from a polyurethane compound which may be coated with p.t.f.e. to reduce friction during insertion and has an interior space 50 to receive an assembly tool and a lip 58 for location purposes. Adjacent blades 14 have inter-engaging bracing members 24 and removal of a spacer 46 permits a blade to be moved radially inwards so that the bracing members 24 can be disengaged and the blade removed.
