摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control method and device for an engine capable of effectively reducing exhaust amount of specific components such as NOx included in exhaust gas by adding an additive such as urea water and light oil to inside of an exhaust passage, of responding to decline in a purification rate due to catalyst deterioration etc., of maintaining a high purification rate all the time including at the time of acceleration/deceleration by minimizing the amount of the additive to be used, and of suppressing environmental pollution as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device is provided with a catalyst 144 removing the specific components such as NOx included in exhaust gas of the engine, an additive adding means 150 adding the additive for reducing the specific components such as NOx to the exhaust gas, and an EGR amount adjusting means adjusting the amount of EGR. In accordance with an operating condition and aged deterioration of the catalyst 144, the adding amount of the additive and EGR amount are set.
