<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a musical performance which is musically unnatural when a playing style is specified. <P>SOLUTION: Two overlapping sounds which are successively generated are detected on the basis of performance event information to acquire the pitch difference between the two sounds. Further, information indicating a playing style to be added to the two sounds is acquired and the pitch difference between the two acquired sounds is compared with a pitch difference limitation range corresponding to the playing style indicated by the acquired information to decide whether the playing style is applicable. Then the playing style to be added to the two overlapping sounds is determined according to whether the playing style is applicable or not. A pitch difference limitation range is set by a condition setting means for each playing style. Thus, the playing style to be added to the two overlapping sounds is determined according to whether the playing style is applicable, when the playing style to be added is specified. Then, application of a playing style to a pitch difference which is actually impossible because of the structure of a musical instrument, characteristics of the playing style, etc., can be avoided, so a musical performance with musical unnatural representation can be prevented from being carried out when the playing style is specified. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
