<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stacked retardation sheet which exhibits an excellent viewing angle characteristic and can be thinned in applying the stacked retardation sheet for a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The stacked retardation sheet is formed by stacking a polymer optical anisotropic layer A having in-plane retardation of 20 to 300 nm and the ratio of thickness-directional retardation and in-plane retardation of ≥1.0 and a non-liquid crystalline polymer optical anisotropic layer B such as polyimide having the in-plane retardation of ≥3 nm and the ratio of thickness-directional retardation and the in-plane retardation of ≥1.0. Such a stacked retardation sheet exhibits such an excellent optical characteristic that the in-plane retardation (Re) is ≥10 nm and the difference between the thickness-directional retardation and the in-plane retardation is ≥50 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
