PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation image forming apparatus having the heat developing section for a black and white heat developable photosensitive material and an image digitizer, and a digital image forming method for a radiation image. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus and the image forming method using the same are equipped with the heat developing section which performs heat development while making the black and white heat developable photosensitive material with the radiation image recorded thereon as a latent image pass through, and the image digitizer which is connected to the heat developing section and provides an image signal expressing the radiation image by capturing the black and white heat developable photosensitive material sent out from the heat developing section as it is and photolectrically reading the radiation image visualized by the heat development.
