PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acoustic material and a refractory acoustic material which have incombustibility and present a high acoustic absorption coefficient in the intermediate to low-frequency region of 500 Hz or lower. SOLUTION: The acoustic material is provided with a film 1 and an additional mass film 2 layered on the front surface side of the film 1. The film 1 is formed with material having a low air permeability and satisfactory flexibility. The additional mass film 2 is provided with an adhesive film 2a, disposed on the front surface side of the film 1 and a plurality of mass bodies 2b, which are added dispersedly on the front surface side of the adhesive film 2a. As the mass bodies 2b, a material enabling surface density of the film 1 to be high, more specifically any one of ore, ceramic, polymer materials which include the ore and/or ceramics or their composite material is preferably used.
