PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet post-processing apparatus having a structure which is miniaturized, and capable of preventing paper sheets from being held between a standby tray and a transverse alignment plate, and enhancing the alignment property in the transverse direction. SOLUTION: The sheet post-processing apparatus comprises a standby tray for making sheets ejected from an image forming device stand by, a processing tray which is arranged below the standby tray and stacks the sheets dropped from the standby tray or the sheets ejected from the image forming device not through the standby tray, an alignment mechanism for performing the transverse alignment of the sheets stacked on the processing tray to form a sheet bundle, a post-processing mechanism for post-processing the sheet bundle aligned by the alignment mechanism, and an ejection tray for ejecting the sheet bundle post-processed by the post-processing mechanism. The sheet post-processing apparatus has a structure in which the processing tray and the standby tray are arranged so as to make the height of an upper end of the processing tray higher than the height of a lower end of the standby tray.
