Prepn of disulphuric acid half-ester of bis- - (4-hydroxyphenyl)-(pyridyl 2)-methane

The disulphuric acid half-ester of bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-(pyridyl-2)-methane and its salts (where X(+) is an alkali metal ion or a cation NH3R(+) (where R is H, alkyl or cycloalkyl) are prepared by reacting bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-(pyridyl-2)-methane either (a) with an adduct of SO3 with tertiary organic bases or cyclic ethers, or (b) with amidosulphonic acid at slightly elevated temps. (esp. pref. 60-85 degrees C). The compds. have a good laxative effect.
