Ionic liquid formed of a cationic component and an anionic component characterized in that the cationic component contains fluorine atoms. When defects of an oxide film formed on the surface of a metal are anodized by a two electrode system under existence of the ionic liquid, a current-voltage curve being obtained by applying a forward voltage from 0V at a constant voltage rate of 1V/s has an initial peak voltage and gives a withstand voltage of 50V or above. The ionic liquid does not evaporate easily, exhibits hydrohobicity and low hygroscopicity, and has an excellent repair function for the metal oxide film.
