<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IMT (intima media thickness) measuring method for compensating a limit in an ultrasonic imaging method. <P>SOLUTION: Systems and methods for identifying various tissue structure aspects such as boundaries of arterial walls included in an image such as an ultrasonic image are disclosed. Various measured values can be obtained using information with respect to identified aspects of tissue structure. For example, the thickness of an intima-media composite body can be obtained. Additionally or alternatively, tissue structure aspects such as plague within an artery can be characterized such as by determining an image density. Various information such as measurement data used in identification of tissue structure aspects included in one image can be stored and applied to subsequent images such as images of video sequence. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
