CARBON FIBER STRAND FOR THERMOPLASTIC RESIN REINFORCEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber strand for thermoplastic resin reinforcement, having excellent adhesiveness to a thermoplastic resin matrix and generating little decomposition gas in molding. SOLUTION: The carbon fiber strand for thermoplastic resin reinforcement has an ionomer resin applied to the fiber in an amount of 0.1-8.0 mass% based on the carbon fiber. A carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin produced by compounding a thermoplastic resin with the strand in an amount of 5-70 mass% has excellent mechanical strength such as flexural strength. The carbon fiber strand for thermoplastic resin reinforcement has excellent adhesiveness especially to polypropylene. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
