PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio receiver which enables the current consumption thereof to be reduced while preventing deterioration in receiving sensitivity. SOLUTION: The radio receiver is provided with: a filter 3a for extracting a desired signal and a channel signal adjacent to the desired signal from a received signal subjected to frequency downconversion by an RF front-end circuit 2a; a level judgment circuit 4a for detecting an output signal of the filter 3a, comparing the detection result with a reference level and judging whether the detection result exceeds the reference level; a BB processing part 7 for detecting or demodulating a signal level of the desired signal and judging whether the signal level exceeds a fixed value; and a control circuit 1a for controlling current caused to flow to the RF front-end circuit 2a and the gain of the RF front-end circuit 2a in accordance with respective judgment results of the level judgment circuit 4a and the BB processing part 7.
