PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively form a groove which has the same thickness as a friction material has, and whose width is reduced toward an outer diameter from an inner diameter. SOLUTION: Symmetrical segments A, B are cut out of a blank material of a friction material. To be more specific, the symmetrical segments A, B are cut out of a quadrangular blank material along a cutting-plane line of an oblique line. The segments A, B are affixed onto a metal core plate 1 so as to form a groove 2 whose width is reduced toward an outer diameter from an inner diameter by inverting one of the symmetrical segments A, B.
