PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform cross AF control at high speed with simple configuration when performing AF control with a pupil splitting phase difference system using an image signal obtained by an imaging device, and to miniaturize them. SOLUTION: In the imaging apparatus, the combination diaphragm and pupil splitting mechanism 2 is constituted by using the conventional diaphragm wing mechanism, and in detecting the degree of focusing, the mechanism 2 uses a driving mechanism different from a diaphragm driving mechanism for adjusting light quantity, that is, after the mechanism 2 makes left and right diaphragm wings open/close at high speed by linking with the rotation operation of an AF driving ring 5 having four AF cam parts 51 to 54, it makes upper and lower diaphragm wings open/close at high speed.
