PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable radio terminal with a small body for improving characteristics, such as antenna directivity and the gain of a built-in antenna. SOLUTION: The portable radio terminal includes an upper frame body 1 with conductivity for storing an upper board 3, an lower frame body 2 for storing a lower board, and a hinge unit 5 for jointing the upper frame body 1 and the lower frame body 2. An antenna element and an auxiliary metallic member (passive element) are so provided opposite at the lower board that each is subjected to electrostatic capacity coupling with the upper frame body at the hinge unit 5. The auxiliary metallic member in the hinge unit 5 and the antenna element are provided near to part of the upper frame body so that the directivity can be changed, and the antenna characteristics can be improved without spoiling the exterior design.
