PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a vehicle carrying out a reduction in driving force or automatic brake control through driving force control of the vehicle by detecting slip state at the time of sideslip of the running vehicle or exactly carrying out detection of abnormality of a brake operation detection device when carrying out constant speed travel control or the automatic brake control of the vehicle by an inter-vehicle distance control means or a constant speed travel control means. SOLUTION: The control device 10 of the vehicle has a deceleration detection means for detecting deceleration of the vehicle 1 and a brake operation detection means for detecting brake operation of a brake device 8 of the vehicle 1 and also has a failure diagnostic means 20 for diagnosing a failure of the brake operation detection means based on detection result of the deceleration and the brake operation. The control device 10 prohibits the failure diagnosis of the failure diagnostic means 20 when judging that the vehicle 1 is carrying out automatic deceleration control. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
