PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve measurement accuracy in spectral characteristic measurement of a sample with large transmission light quantity variation for wavelength variation and shorten measuring time. SOLUTION: The spectrophotometer 1 comprises: a light source 2 radiating a light flux; a spectroscope 3 splitting the light flux; and a first detector 4 detecting the intensity of the light flux split with the spectroscope 3. It measures the spectral characteristic of an object to be measured and also comprises a second detector 5 detecting, in advance, the light intensity that the first detector 4 detects and a sensitivity control means 6 controlling the sensitivity of the first detector 4 on the basis of the light intensity detected with the detector 5.
