PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a deodorant of high deodorizing effect by utilizing used tea leaves without dewatering them. SOLUTION: Used tea leaf paste formed into paste by crushing used tea leaves containing moisture is mixed with a silicic acid compound and formed into a pellet state to form the deodorant. Silica gel, bentonite, or the like can be used as the silicic acid compound. The used tea leaf paste and the silicic acid compound are mixed to enhance contact efficiency between a malodor substance and the used tea leaves to thereby obtain the deodorant enhanced in deodorizing effect. Further, calcium bentonite is used as the silicic acid compound to obtain the deodorant capable of eliminating both of an acid malodor substance and a basic malodor substance.
