PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of components, facilitate assembling, and improve precision of a chair, in which a backrest is received by a back receiving member fitted to a supporting base so as to incline backward. SOLUTION: The supporting base 2 is provided on an upper end of a leg, to which the back receiving member 7 having a right and a left arms 7a and a base part 7b is fitted so as to incline backward. The back receiving member 7 is switched between a locked state and a free state by a gas cylinder 10. The back receiving member 7 is an integral molding formed of light metal or resin. A back face of the base part 7b is covered a wall part 7c. A standing part 7f for fitting a back frame 13 is integrally molded on both right and left sides of the base part 7b. The back receiving member 7 is a single component and assembling and processing such as welding is not required.
