PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the AI (augmentation index) as an index of the ratio of reflection waves in pulse waves, using an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus. SOLUTION: A vascular diameter waveform 200 is obtained by using the echo tracking technology assuming that the pulse-wave waveform is equivalent to the vascular diameter waveform. The minimum value 202 and the maximum value 204 are specified on the vascular diameter waveform 200. A peak 212 is specified on a first differential waveform 210 to specify the starting point 208 of its reflection wave, and a zero-cross point 218 is specified on a third differential waveform 214 with the specified peak as the reference. The zero-cross point 218 is equivalent to the starting point 208. The AI is calculated according to a known arithmetic expression from the amplitude of each specified point.
