<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system capable of offering information matching a destination to a user when the user gets on a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: This information providing system is provided with a portable terminal 5 carried by the user, a card 6, a ticket gate controller 4-1 installed in a ticket gate machine 3-1, and a server 1. The card 6 carried by the user stores ticket information including boarding point information and leaving point information. The ticket gate controller 4-1 reads the ticket information stored in the card 6 to transmit the read ticket information including the boarding point information and the leaving point information.
