<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device which can radiate a light emitted from a light emitting element and of which emission intensity is high. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device is provided with a substrate 2 wherein the mounting part 2a of a light emitting element 4 is provided on its upper main surface and a conduction path 8 is formed over the lower main surface or side surface from the upper main surface, a reflection member 3 which is connected with the upper main surface of the substrate 2 in a manner to surround the mounting part 2a and of which internal peripheral surface is formed as a light reflection surface, a light emitting element 4 which is mounted to the mounting part 2a and is electrically connected with the conduction path 8, a light transmission member 5 to cover the surface of the light emitting element 4, and a wavelength conversion member 6 which is made of a transparent member including phosphor and covers the light transmission member 5. In this case, assuming that the refractive index of the transparent substrate comprising the light emitting element 4 is n<SB>1</SB>, that of the light transmission member 5 is n<SB>R1</SB>and that of the transparent is n<SB>R2</SB>, a relationship of n<SB>1</SB>≥n<SB>R1</SB>>n<SB>R2</SB>is established. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
