PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal processing apparatus in which control of digital signal processing circuit and a back-end processor can be performed by one and the same design parameter, and a display device. SOLUTION: This video signal processor has an AV switch 13 for receiving, for example, a first video signal with the number of horizontal effective pixels of 720 and with pixel clock frequency of 27MHz and a second video signal with the number of horizontal effective pixels of 640 and with pixel clock frequency of 27MHz and selecting and outputting one video signal, and the digital signal processing circuit 15 including an A/D converter 153 for sampling the selected video signal with a clock signal of the same clock frequency of 27MHz and converting the sampled video signal into a digital signal and a signal conversion circuit 155 for outputting a selected first or second video signal as a signal with the unified number of horizontal effective pixels of 720 even when either the first video signal or the second video signal is selected.
