PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature measurement method and an apparatus for a molten metal allowing to perform accurate temperature measurement for a molten metal even when there are fluctuations in the effective emissivity of a molten metal and fluctuations in the amount of light of incident light caused by external disturbing factors such as adhesion of a metal to an opening section at the tip of a lance. SOLUTION: A measurement hole (window) 6 is provided at a position from which an oxygen feeding hole section at the tip of the lance can be directly observed to form a measurement window made of pressure-proof glass. The measurement hole (window) is provided with an optical branch means 7 which divides light introduced from the lance tip and reached the measurement hole into two. One of the branched light is input to a photographing means comprising a photographing lens 8 and a CCD sensor (camera) 9 to photograph the oxygen feeding hole section at the tip of the lance. The other light of the optical branch means 7 is introduced into a light receiving section 12 of a spectroscopic measurement sensor 13 to perform spectroscopic brightness measurement for the incident light.
