PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distortion detection system and a distortion detection method allowing to easily find distortion on the surface of a body to be detected. SOLUTION: A light source 1 having a detection fluorescence lamp 15 is fixed to the vicinity of the side of a belt conveyor 3 conveying a vehicle 4 in a forward direction. Light irradiated by the light source 1 is reflected on a vehicle body 41. A detection worker P views the reflected light to detect distortion on the vehicle body 41. The detection fluorescence lamp 15 extends in the vertical direction perpendicular to the movement direction of the vehicle 4, is bent in accordance with the surface profile of a front-side door FDr and a rear-side door RDr of the vehicle 4, and is formed in a shape so that the shortest distances from its parts in the vertical direction to the surface of the vehicle body are equal to each other.
