PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet post-processing apparatus having a standby tray as silent as possible while conveying paper sheets. SOLUTION: A standby tray 10 is pivotably supported by one end, and turnable in the paper sheet conveying direction. Since the standby tray 10 supports paper sheets P from both ends thereof, the standby tray is driven by a stepping motor by correctly synchronizing the motion of the right and left standby trays 10. When the paper sheets P of the predetermined number are stacked on tray members 10a, 10b, the standby tray 10 is rotated in a forward direction. The rotation in a forward direction means the rotation in the dropping direction of the paper sheets P toward the processing tray, and when the standby tray 10 is rotated, the paper sheets P are dropped toward the processing tray while the standby tray 10 under rotation taps down the paper sheets P during the drop. Thus, the dropping paper sheets P are not put into pieces from the aligned state, but stacked on the processing tray. Any standby tray 10 is not reversed but rotated in a forward direction.
