<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector which does not shift in the direction in which a connecting object such as FPC is discharged from a housing by a cam in operating an actuator from an open position to a closed position. <P>SOLUTION: The actuator 4 is supported by wall parts 2b, 2d, 2e of the housing 2 rotatably by approximately 90 degrees clockwise from a position shown in the figure. Because the cam 4a installed at the actuator is engaged with a recessed part 3f1 of numerous contacts 3, the actuator does not come off from the housing. When the actuator is rotated approximately 90 degrees clockwise, the cam 4a pushes up a pivotal part 3f. Because a first coupling part 3c is elastically deformed, a contact point 3e1 of a contact part 3e press the tip part of FPC 11 to the wall part 2b of the housing.
